Letters sent to Attcheson L. Hench by various dealers. With these letters are some handwritten copies in Hench's hand of the Blackmore items in the dealers' catalogs. They include letters, 1875-1896, of Blackmore to Käthe Freiligrath-Kroeker, Mr. Taylor, & Sibyl Maxwell, & a reply in verse to an invitation to dine with Stephen Crane. Catalog, 1937, from Charles J. Sawyer devoted entirely to Blackmore [16 p. printed].

Stephen Crane was a novelist, poet, and journalst. He was born November 1, 1871, at 14 Mulberry Place, Newark, New Jersey. Crane is best known for his novel The Red Badge of Courage (1895) that depicted the experiences of a soldier in the Civil War. During the Spanish-American War (1898), Crame served as a correspondent.
